Down to Box classes encourage and build confidence for the disabled

The sounds of laughter and enthusiastic cheering can be heard almost immediately upon entering Jabz Boxing at 611 N. Swarthmore Ave. on any given Friday night.

Encouraged, guided, and cheered on by at least a half dozen coaches and many parents, a handful of individuals are punching bags in the ring, running and jumping their way through an obstacle course, running relay races, sparring with their boxing gloves and being guided through one-on-one pad work.

Jonathan Gainey has 14 years of experience in personal training and has worked with hundreds of clients and taught numerous fitness classes. But his favorite class to teach is the one nearest to his heart.
